Thoughts at Target

Tonight we went to the drive in (pictures to come) and we stopped at Target on the way to get treats. Koy ran in with me and in the 10 minutes we were in the store we had these conversations..
A guy that was handicaped was walking behind us and was talking a little funny, kind of nasaly, if that makes sense..

K: Mom why is that guy talking like this (as Koy is mimicing him)
Me: Well bud sometimes when people are born they are special and a little different from us.
K: Well he sounds funny
Me: He may sound funny but you can't make fun of people it's not nice. How would you feel if people made fun of Libbi because of her heart?
K: If anyone every says 'ha ha you have a broken heart Libbi' i'd kick them in the nuts.
Me: uhh.. no you won't. But it would make you feel bad so let's be nice to everyone ok.
K: ok

So what does a mom say to that?!? I had mixed emotions because I love that he is protective of his little sis but it was a little overboard!!

We continued on down the aisles and he says..

K: Why do some boys wear earrings and have tattoos?
Me: Cause some boys are silly
K: Dad says Jesus doesn't like us to have tattoos (i don't think he understands yet that momma has a couple, he thinks they're stickers maybe?)
Me: Ya dad is right, tattoos are not pretty and Jesus likes our bodies to be pretty.
K: Well Darin Williams and Lebron have tattoos and they're cool!
Me: Well they are silly, tattoos are not cool.

Ya, that'll be an interesting discussion for me to have with my children as they grow up!

As we continue, out of nowhere he says..

K: Will Libbi talk like that guy when she gets big? (meaning the guy from earlier)
Me: No bud Libbi will talk like you and me.

Then to top it off..

K: That girl looks like that guy Ty's mom (meaning my friend Emily from Nephi)
Me: Ya she kind of does huh?
K: She's WAY bigger than her husband! (meaning way taller, which she was, but he said it very loud!)

And i'm not kidding when I say we were in the store 10 minutes.. Kurt and the girls were waiting in the car! I was exhausted by the time we got back to the car and decided Koy will not be joining me at the store for a while! I need to recover from that one!!
